A Man of No Importance

A Man of No Importance tells the story of Alfie Byrne, a closeted Irish bus conductor in the 1960s. At an epic moment in the play Alfie decides to express his true self by wearing a green carnation, an indicator of gay identity popularized by his hero Oscar Wilde.

I decided to go a little wild(e) myself and recreate a 1960s Dublin bus map before building the green carnation petals out of it. This also doubles as a reference to one of the most popular songs in the musical, entitled “The Streets of Dublin.”
