In A Sunshine State

In A Sunshine State is a new musical by T.C. Lind and songwriting team Derek Gregor & Phoebe Kreutz. Set in 1950s Florida, it centers around a closeted female professor in a conservative town, with a running visual motif involving an alluring sign for “The Purple Orchid.” When approached about designing the key art & poster, I was immediately drawn to the idea of creating a candy-coated 1950s world with a mysterious purple portal at its center.

In the end, the team decided to go with a blue background, as the pink was deemed a little too “Barbie” (though I myself am partial to it!). The musical will premiere at San Diego State University in late spring of 2024.
